Curry broke Ray Allen’s record in Madison Square Garden

Stephen Curry went 5 of 14 from the perimeter and broke Ray Allen’s record at Madison Square Garden as he led Golden State to a 105–96 victory over the New York Knicks.

He made his 2,974th 3-pointer with 7:33 left in the first quarter, followed by a lengthy celebration inside Madison Square Garden where he hugged his parents, teammates and Allen, whose record stood for 10 years.

“I thought the night was perfect,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who called timeout after the record shot to make room for a celebration. “It just pretty much encapsulated who he is and his reaction to it was perfect.”

For Curry, it would have been ideal if he made this accomplishment in front of his Bay Area fans.

“If you can’t do it at home, this is definitely a great Plan B,” Curry said Tuesday night.

His teammate Draymond Green, who really admires Curry and feels like he has witnessed greatness next to him all these years, couldn’t do anything else but praise him.

“Steph is the best to ever shoot a basketball and we get the opportunity to go to work with him every day and it’s a very special thing,” Green said.

Julius Randle led the Knicks in scoring with 31 points, including five threes. Derrick Rose had 15 points, four rebounds and six assists and Alec Burks had 14.
