Damion Lee divulges Klay Thompson’s goal for 2020–21 season
Golden State Warriors shooting Damion Lee divulged what is the main mission that his teammate Klay Thompson has now that he has recovered from the Achilles injury and can look at the next season.
During the “Runnin’ Plays” podcast with Kerith Burke and Grant Liffmann of NBC Sports Bay Area, Lee disclosed what Thompson aims at for the 2020–21 season.
He was asked: What kind of 2020–21 season does Damion Lee expect from Klay Thompson when the three-time NBA champion finally returns to game action?
“I feel like he wants to show people that he is the best two-way guard in the league,” Lee said. “He’s done it before. He’s in a pretty good mind space. I think he’s just ready to go out there and play.”
During the 2019 playoffs, where the Warriors confronted with the Toronto Raptors and lost 4–2, during Game 6 Thompson tore his ACL and left the game after making two free-throws. That was a critical blow for the Warriors that literally erased all the odds that wanted them to prevail over the Toronto Raptors and win another championship.
Even if Kevin Durant departed in order to play with his friend Kyrie Irving, most people thought that this dynasty is just piece of the past, but when 2020–21 season starts and Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and the rest of the team will be completely healthy, then they will be thought to be contenders. Some people forgot about the Warriors but they will recall who they are next season which means early in December, but for now all eyes are in the bubble and the pending obligations.
