Luka Doncic had everything under control and tied a career-high with 42 points, plus Tim Hardaway Jr. added 26 and the Dallas Mavericks got another win away from home by beating 120–113 Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

“Great players have a short memory for tough games,” Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said about Doncic’s big night. “They move forward. They’re always thinking ahead and about the next challenge. He was spectacular tonight from start to finish.”

Doncic was coming off a disappointing performance in the loss to the Clippers on Tuesday night, where he shot 4-of-14 from the field and missed all eight 3-point attempts. With his performance tonight, with 12/24 from the field, the young guard showed us once again how good he is.

“It’s just one game — we lost one game,” Doncic said about the loss against the Clippers. “We shouldn’t be worried about that. You go to the next game and pretend like nothing happened. I’m anxious to go out there every night. I’m excited about every game. That’s me.”

Doncic’s partner Kristraps Porzingis had an awful performance scoring only two points (from the free-throw line), shooting 0/8 from the field and 0/6 from the perimeter. He had 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks in 34 minutes.

Kelly Oubre Jr. finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Ricky Rubio added 21 points and nine assists. Also, Devin Booker had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The Suns have won only three games out of the last ten. They are sitting on the 8th seed with record 8–10 (W-L).

“We didn’t play our game the last quarter,” Rubio said. “I think we got focused on the wrong things, things we can’t control.”
