Eden Hazard returns to Starting XI for Champions League match on Tuesday
After a much-needed victory in El Clasico 3–1 against Blaugrana, Real Madrid brews for the second game in the groups of Champions League and looks forward to reformulating their approach in Germany against Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday’s game.
A victory in El Clasico always brings smiles on players’ faces and hopefully uplifts their confidence and strengthens their unity as a cluster. After a disappointing loss last week by Shakhtar Donetsk, Los Blancos look forward to changing the first bad impression that they gave in this first match of the competition and travel to Germany self-assured and united to achieve their goal.
On Saturday’s game against Barcelona, Sergio Ramos returned to the starting lineup and made an impact on this game (as he scored from a penalty after Lenglet pulled his jersey desperately) and he is expected to play on Tuesday. Raphael Varane had a difficult time adjusting on the defensive scheme without the presence of the captain, but now that Ramos is back, he will surely play with more certainty.
Unfortunately, Real Madrid has a list of players out with injuries and Nacho was the last one who got added to it. The absences of Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola from the right flank have caused many problems to Zidane’s plans and now with Nacho out, he will be forced to put Lucas Vasquez on this position ad interim.
Eden Hazard trained with the rest of the group on Sunday and he is now added to the total 21 players who will play midweek. His first season in Madrid was far away from everyone’s speculations as he made 22 appearances due to ankle issues that forced him out for a long time. Now he is feeling better and there is a dilemma on if he should play on the Champions League game or spend another week out to fully recover.
Despite the above, Hazard is included in the trip and here is the list of players who will be available for this game:
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Andry Lunin, Diego Altube
Defenders: Eder Militao, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Marcelo, Ferland Mendy
Midfielders: Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Fede Valverde, Isco, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vasquez, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo
Forwards: Karim Benzema, Luka Jovic
