Former Rockets GM in negotiations with East team
Rockets former general manager Daryl Morey is in advanched talks with the Philadelphia 76ers and will probably become their head of basketball operations, without necessarily meaning that Elton Brand, who is their current GM, will lose his job.
Morey stepped down as general manager of the Houston Rockets earlier this month. During his tenure in Houston, the team did very well as they managed to clinch a playoff spot for eight consecutive years and also went to the Western Conference Finals twice.
Everyone on the organization was extremely convinced that the team would win the title but unfortunately for them, once again they were not able to reach their ultimate goal.
First Mike D’Antoni departed from Houston and then Morey out of disappointment, discussed with Rockets owner and divulged to him his disposal to give an end to this journey.
If he joins the 76ers, there will be a new chapter in his career and a huge opportunity to cooperate with their new head coach Doc Rivers. He is definitely one of the best general managers in the league and adept of making good decisions. Even in his time in Houston, he did a great job, despite not reaching the main goal.
