Mesut Ozil will miss FA Cup Final against Chelsea after travelling to Turkey
Mesut Ozil will not be with the squad for the FA Cup Final against Chelsea today. It’s definitely a critical game for Arsenal which finished 8th in the Premier League and their only chance to take part in an European competition next season is to win this title tonight at Wembley Stadium.
The 31-year-old has been warded off from the court for a long time. To be more accurate, the last time he played in a game was last month when Arsenal beat 2–0 Southampton. The reason why he has been kept out for so long was intially due to a back injury, however, there are some speculations that Mikel Arteta has a negative approach towards the attacking midfielder, because he estimates that he affects his plans and players in a way where he creates problems.
There is a report that says that Ozil has spent the last several days in his native country, Turkey. Also, earlier last month there was a rumour that Fenerbahce was considering to make move for the midfielder and according to a report, in case he departs from London, he would only consider a move to a Turkish Super Lig or MLS side.
Ozil’s agent recently alleged that his client was 90% certain to see out the remaining year on his lucrative contract. He gets paid £350,000-a-week and that makes him Arsenal’s top earner — due to this fact the team is very likely to consider to receive offers for him and if one of them meets theirs requirements they will grant him — especially after they got eliminated from the European competition this season. Arsenal has also been facing financial problems and this summer they will be forced to deal with this matter and will not extend some players’ contracts — defender David Luiz is rumoured to be on this list.
However, he is not the only one in the list of players with uncertain future with the club. Another player who will not be at Wembley this afternoon is Matteo Guendouzi. Since he was involved in a fiery exchange with Brighton’s Neal Maupay after a 2–1 defeat on 20 June, he has been training alone. There is a rumour that French team Lyon keep an eye on him and might make an offer this summer.
