Players seek to resume play as soon as possible
Some of the NBA’s biggest names today took part in a call on Monday in order to have a discussion about the potential of the season getting resumed and if that’s so then under what circumstances or what criteria should be set and covered to make this scenario more realistic.
Chris Paul, the president of the players association, was the one that arranged the call that included LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook.
At the end of the call, all participants came to an agreement that a return to the court would mean that proper safety and measures must be put in a pedestal.
However, in a conference call with players on Friday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated that he couldn’t guarantee the safety of the players if play resumed in a city where they would be quarantined, but assured them the league would do everything in its power to make the safest conditions possible.
Players reacted to it differently: the majority of them who will not be able to compete during the postseason due to their teams' elimination cited that would like to see some playoff action, while others expressed their concern that a potential cancellation of the season would have a serious influence on the next CBA, sources said.
Note: NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he doesn’t have to make a decision on the season until some point in June.
