Welcome back Mike Conley!!! Jazz lead the series 2–1
Welcome back Mike Conley!!! What a game Conley had today against Denver. He was Jazz’s top scorer with 27 points and a career-high 7-of-8 from the three-point line. Rudy Gobert, a candidate for the award Defensive Player Of the Year, was phenomenal notching 20 of his total 24 points in the first half, shot 11-out of-15 from the field and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Jazz embarrassed 124–87 the Denver Nuggets and now lead the series 2–1.
Donovan Mitchell had 20 points and four rebounds, Georges Niang added 16 points coming off the bench and was 4-out of-6 from the three-point line. Jordan Clarkson had 11 points, three rebounds and four assists.
Jazz shot 51.2% from the field, 48.6% from the perimeter and 76.9% from the free-throw line. It’s the second straight time they scored 124 points but this time the lead was +37 which is very impressive and also the biggest blowout in the playoffs so far.
The 37-point loss tied the third-worst in Denver’s playoff history. The record is 44 against the Los Angeles Lakers on May 22, 1985.
Nikola Jokic had 15 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Jamal Murray added 12 points, five rebounds and six assists for Nuggets.
‘’They are going to give us all they got and they did that tonight. You know, sometimes we think we are good and we are down twelve at the end of the first — I just think that we have to hold a higher standard, as individually, as a squad, as a third seed we have beaten a lot of good teams consistently… we have to look in the mirror and come back ready to play. They are playing out of their mind right now, shoot the ball very well, they play with a lot of confidence and it’s time to get ourselves back,’’ Murray said after the game.
Nuggets allowed Jazz to score over 30 points in the last three quarters, didn’t defend well in the perimeter as Jazz made 18 threes. Furthermore, they will need the guys who are coming off the bench to step up their game, defend and shoot better.
Game 4 is on Sunday.
